The Mikroelektronika MIKROE-3452 Ambient 8 Click Board is equipped with the LTR-329ALS-01 ambient light sensor (ALS) IC, providing measurements of ambient light intensity in a digital format over the I2C interface. Housed in a small transparent ChipLED package, this sensor provides very accurate readings: thanks to a 16-bit resolution and high dynamic range, it is suitable for both very dim and very bright lighting conditions, covering the range from 0.01 lx to 64 klx. It features excellent IR filtering and two photo-sensing elements, allowing linear response over the entire range. The flicker noise rejection algorithm further improves accuracy, while excellent thermal compensation ensures consistency of measurement results. Ambient 8 Click is supported by a mikroSDK compliant library, which simplifies software development. This fully tested Click board is ready for use on systems equipped with the mikroBUS™ socket. It is suitable for rapid development of various cost-effective applications relying on light intensity sensing, including optical switches, screen dimming applications for mobile and handheld devices, light metering applications (lux meters), and similar.
